Katie O'Brien Duzan is the Democratic candidate for Texas House District 94, which covers the Arlington and H-E-B (Hurst, Euless, Bedford) areas in Tarrant County. She is a product of Arlington public schools herself and is married to Chris, an Air Force veteran — raising two kids who are both in Arlington ISD schools. She has spent 15 years leading global marketing and business teams at the intersection of technology and life sciences, and is currently serving as a vice president at an S&P 500 company. In her district, she has served on the Arlington ISD Citizens Bond Oversight Committee, and before running for office she volunteered and knocked doors for more than 10 local and statewide candidates.

Katie's economic platform focuses on closing the gap between how Texas treats small businesses versus large corporations, exploring a state-backed small business bank modeled on North Dakota's. She also believes strongly in investing in workforce development and apprenticeships, and protecting local control over local economic decisions. Katie supports expanding Medicaid and bringing the money that Texans already pay into Medicaid back into the state. She wants healthcare to improve access to preventative care, ultimately lowering healthcare costs for both individuals and the state. She has said Texas families should not have to choose between food and medicine, and treats affordable healthcare as part of a broader cost-of-living platform alongside housing and childcare. Katie supports fully funding Texas public schools, paying and retaining good teachers, and expanding mental health and school safety resources. She has been a vocal opponent of the state's private school voucher program, arguing it diverts funding away from the public schools that serve the vast majority of Texas students. She is proudly a product of Texas public schools herself and is raising her own children in Arlington ISD.

Katie's platform speaks directly to homeowner cost pressures: property tax reform, state oversight of rising insurance premiums, and firm opposition to any sales tax increase. She has also proposed redirecting state surplus dollars, currently funneled toward large corporate tax breaks, into relief that benefits homeowners directly, rather than subsidies for companies that didn't even request them.

Katie holds a bachelor's degree and MBA from TCU, earned while working two jobs. She has spent 15 years managing multi-million dollar budgets, including at a Fortune 100 company, small and local Arlington businesses, startups, and midsize companies. She currently serves as a vice president at an S&P 500 company, working at the intersection of technology and life sciences to lower consumer costs and speed up patient access to medicine.
